Turkey 5K

I just completed my first race! The 10th Annual Boston Volvo Thanksgiving 5K for Best Buddies of Massachusetts. I searched the Boston Globe last night for today's events and found the race. I decided not to drive into NY or Maryland this year for dinner. I wanted to start the day right and decided it was time for a new Thanksgiving tradition. I completed it in under 30 minutes. Not my best time for sure, but I had awful abdominal cramps that slowed my pace. I think I ate too much for breakfast before the race. TJ's Maple Sugar Frosted Mini-Wheats, wheat toast, and a banana. Can't live like a Goddess if you're eating like a pauper. Now, it's time to relax and watch the NYC parade. I love floats. Tonight, I am going to make a sweet potato turkey shepherd's pie. As always, I like to watch my favorite holiday film, A Christmas Story. Happy Thanksgiving!

Godmother Juju

I became the Godmother to my niece, Piper Elliott, on Thursday evening. My sister, Kim, made me Godmother to her first born child, Conor, when I was 15 years old. I remembering snickering when the priest asked me to forsake Satan. Satan wasn't even mentioned at this baptism even though I was prepared to affirm my renunciation with maturity. My older brother, David, fondly remembers my nephew's baptism and likes to remind me at least once a year since 1991 that my twin brother (my nephew's appointed Godfather) and I made asses of ourselves. When I called David to let him know that I had redeemed myself with Piper's baptism, David informed me that the baptism was fraudulent because 1. I am unconfirmed, 2. the priest performing the ceremony was excommunicated, and 3. Piper has two mommies. The Pope may think it's a joke, but I like to think God gave us all a little wink from up above.

My Nieces

My beautiful nieces. Sage is dressed like Dee Dee Doodle from the Doodlebops. I'm going to pretend that she's Jem from the Holograms. The Doodlebops make me cringe. Face paint should be illegal in all 50 states. I missed It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown on television this Halloween. Hopefully, I'll be able to watch it on youtube. My favorite part is when Lucy retrieves Linus from the pumpkin patch and puts him to bed. Even though Lucy threatens to pound Linus for his beliefs, she supports him in the end.
